CIDEL ended officially on 31 October 2005, after a duration of three years.
This website will continue to be updated with new publications from the project.

CIDEL involves ten partner institutions in six European countries. Scientific Responsible is Prof. Erik O. Eriksen at the coordinating partner ARENA at the University of Oslo.See also the Integrated Project RECON - Reconstituting Democracy in Europe, which started on 1 January 2007 and will last for five years. The project is coordinated by Prof. Erik O. Eriksen at ARENA. Much of the research from CIDEL will be developed further in RECON, which consists of nine thematic work packages.

  • Report from CIDEL concluding conference. The CIDEL consortium held its concluding conference in Florence in September 2005. A newly published report contains the proceedings of the conference. See more here.
  • JEPP Special Issue on European Foreign Policy. The recent issue of the Journal of European Public Policy is a Special Issue on European foreign policy, edited by Helene Sjursen. The issue, entitled ‘What Kind of Power? European Foreign Policy in Perspective’, examines the question of the EU as a so-called normative or civilising power in the international system.   • Digital version of the Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe. A digital version of the latest version of the Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe has been prepared by Brit Helle Aarskog under the CIDEL project. The logical document structure is captured and refashioned in a hypertextual remediation of the textual content. (December 2004)
