Symposium on 'Democratic Authority'
ARENA's Cathrine Holst will speak at a symposium on David Estlund's book 'Democratic Authority'.
Her subject is: How are we to distinguish between democracy and epistocracy?'
The symposium takes place 7 and 8 December, 2009 and is hosted by the Research Programme on Democracy.
It is open for all.

New article on the effects of agencification
Agency officials do not pay as much attention to the signals from executive politicians as their counterparts in ministerial departments.
In other words, the trend of agencification which has been part of many New Public Management reforms "loosens" the political control of executive politicians.
This is the finding of a new article by ARENA's Morten Egeberg and Jarle Trondal, published recently in the journal Governance.
